Spelling Routines

Please write the date and day of the week in your spelling notebook!

Please use your best handwriting and skip lines.

Vowel Sort- Sort your spelling words with an adult or independently.  Discuss why you chose to sort them that way.  Write the spelling words in your spelling notebook in the appropriate columns.  Write the vowels in a different color.

Blind Sort- Ask an adult to read the words to you.  Write them in the appropriate columns without looking at the words.  Check the words after you have finished and circle the words you misspelled. If there is no adult available be a Critical Thinker and complete the assignment.

Practice- Write difficult or misspelled words 5 to 10 times. Pay special attention to the spelling pattern.

Sentences- Write 5 sentences with the most difficult words.  Make sure you know the meaning of the spelling word.  Each sentences needs to have at least 10 words.  Underline the spelling word in the sentence.
