Week of August 10th-14th

We are so excited for our first full week of 4th grade, and have so many exciting things that we are starting to learn!

Literacy: This week we begin our study of narratives. We will read aloud the book Mr. Lincoln’s Way and analyse it for good writing. We will also begin to look at character traits in literacy.

Math: This week we begin our unit on geometry of 2-dimensional shapes. We will explore properties and relationships of shapes, including lines, angles, and vertices.

Units of Study:

We are getting ready to start our exciting “Unique Brazil” Social Studies unit, in which students will learn about the natural resources, geography, culture, economy, government, and transportation of Brazil. This week, we are learning vocabulary that will help us on our journey, as well as collecting items from home that represent the 5 regions of Brazil. (Please see Ms. Lara's email and send in anything that may help us!)

Português: Nesta semana, vamos iniciar nossa primeira produção textual baseada na atividade Quem sou eu? realizada na semana anterior – ênfase na divisão do texto em parágrafos, título apropriado e ortografia de palavras de alta frequência. Iniciaremos, também, nosso estudo sobre palavras e expressões que usamos no dia-a-dia e os recursos que podemos utilizar para ampliação de vocabulário.     

PAL:

All students have been working as a big group for the first week of class. So, in PAL, this week, students will get to know their room and the teacher that will work more closely with them.

We are very excited to start working with our groups.
