Following the steps to the scientific method, Grade 4 set out to learn more about chemical changes...

Chemical Changes... Student and Parent Responses

During Student Led Conferences, students had the opportunity to guide their parents through the scientific method. Together, they shared their thinking, made hypotheses and wrote down their observations.

Brody's Conclusion: "The chemicals reacted and created carbon dioxide. The mass changed after the reaction...it weighed less. It's a chemical change because the substances won't change back."

Parent's Reflection: "Critical thinking skills were used to determine the hypothesis and curiosity to see what will happen."

Halloween celebrations proved to be a great success! We appreciate our parent volunteers, Isabel, Keicy and Luz, for helping our students make their mathematical thinking visible! 

Students pushed their thinking further by applying estimation, measuring and counting skills to a real life situation... pumpkin carving!
