Grade 4 are Information Writers!

Oi Grade 4! WOW... What fantastic information writers you have become! You have persevered throughout the writing process, rereading, revising and editing your writing to make it clear, meaningful and to the point. Without a doubt, your information book about trade and economy will be extraordinary!

Keeping Up to Date and On Track!

Use the following timeline to keep up to date with the final touches necessary to complete your information book. This work will be started in class and completed for homework.

Monday, April 4th-Tuesday, April 5th

• Highlight important information and ideas for each of your chapters using the following text features:

1. Table of Contents (use your information book plan)
2. Key Words (refer to the trade and economy vocabulary words below; use only the words that appear in your information book!)
3. Glossary (be sure to list words and their definitions in ABC order!)
4. Subheadings
5. Text Boxes
6. Illustrations/Images (remember to cite your images!)
7. Your choice

• Affect - A change that is a result or consequence to an action.
• Cost - A negative consequence to an action.
• Economy - The system of making and spending money.
• Industry - The production of goods or services within an economy.

• Want - Something we do not need to survive, but we would like to have.

Wednesday, April 6th

• Write your introduction and conclusion for your trade and economy book. Use the tools and strategies we have learned in class to write a clear and meaningful introduction and conclusion. Keep it to the point!
• Review and reflect on your writing using the lens of punctuation. Are your sentences clear? Do they make sense? Have you used punctuation appropriately? Use your information writing rubric and ask your parents to help you in this process.

Thursday, April 7th

• Write your bibliography. Be sure to cite ALL sources used to write your information book. Use what you have learned with Ms. Zeidenberg in Library to cite your sources appropriately.

Friday, April 8th

• Create your information book cover. Be creative in order to hook your reader!

Saturday, April 9th-Sunday, April 10th

• Reread your entire book and reflect one last time using the information rubric and trade book checklist. Is it complete? Does it make sense?
• Publishing will take place the week of April 11th!
