This Week in Ms. Murphy's/Ms. Yamada's Classroom

On their second week as 5th graders, our students showed signs of settling into their routines and schedules. Earlier this week, they worked collaboratively as they tested their hypotheses while attempting various strategies to solve the Rope Problem--a fun introductory activity for the scientific method. In math, students continued to build their understanding of factors and products as we reviewed rectangular arrays and multiplication number models, practiced factoring, and learned about prime, composite, and square numbers.
