Human Rights- Grade 5's Unpack What the UDHR Means.

Grade 5's have been unpacking the UDHR- the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in Humanities and we have been having meaningful conversations to try to understand them.

Students learned about and used close reading to understand the UDHR Articles which we worked together to write in our own words, or paraphrase.

It is a good idea to talk to your child about the Articles they are learning about and what they understand about Human Rights to help them make connections to the world around them. 

Today, we looked at a Public Service Announcement by UNICEF that brought our attention to child marriages- which is a violation of human rights' article #16. Students were able to understand why this is an issue, how it violates human rights and started to even look at how the PSA created its message.
