Math Update
There is a Unit 3 Math test this Monday, October 10th - Ms Murphy´s students
Our fifth graders are coming to the end of Unit 3-our Geometry Unit. During this unit we had the opportunity to take a walk around our school and notice the geometry that we have right here at Graded. Students were asked to sketch their findings as they worked with a partner. Ask your child all about the different types of triangles and angles that they found.
We also started our math rotations this week. These rotations give each group the chance to separate the math block into 15 minute intervals. Below is a description of each rotation.
M-Meet the Teacher
In this rotation I meet with a group to discuss the current content and any lack of understanding.
A-At the Rug/Desk
In this rotation students work on specific math pages or finish any incomplete work.
T-Technology
In this rotation students work on Mathletics, Khan Academy or any other math links related to this unit.
H-Hands On Activities
In this rotation students will work on a variety of math games or activities that require collaboration and creativity.
Math Partners
This week students were assigned a math partner. This is another student that they can work with during math. They can discuss math problems and work together to find solutions when appropriate.
