Vacation Break Homework

Dear students & families,

Over the vacation break, our grade expectation is that all fifth graders work on the following assignments:

  • Mystery Reader Project: Students are expected to read every day for at least 30 minutes. They can read novels, magazines, newspapers, nonfiction, graphic novels, etc! While on vacation, take a picture of yourself reading in a cool location. Make sure to cover your face with your book. When we return in January, we will create a bulletin board of all of the pictures that students sent, and we will guess which picture belongs to which student. Look below to see some examples.
  • No Red Ink: Students will be assigned skills to practice over the course of the holiday vacation.
  • Khan Academy: Students will work on their assigned goals for 40 minutes per week. It means students will accomplish a total of 2 hours of Khan Academy at the end of the break.
