Science Investigation Cellular Respiration

During this trimester students explored an introduction to transport systems in multicellular organisms. Students explored the circulatory, respiratory, digestive, and excretory systems in humans and the vascular system in plants. They conducted several investigations that allow students to conduct and analyze controlled experiments as they explore the basic unit of life, the cell, photosynthesis, and the various components of transport systems.

The focus of their last investigation was Cellular Respiration. Fifth graders worked with yeast, flour and sugar to obtain evidence of cellular activity breaking down the sugar.

For the next few days your scientist will be writing a lab report to record that investigation using the rubric we have been using since school started.
