In Grade Five we have finished our unit on vascular plants. Ask your child to tell you about how plants make food and they will impress you with their new scientific vocabulary as they describe the process of photosynthesis, and cellular respiration. During this unit your child had the chance to complete several lab reports each one improving their skill; as they tested their hypothesis and compared data. There were also several opportunities for students to showcase their understanding through personal creativity.
Some examples were developing a comic strip that showed the process of photosynthesis, as well as designing a piece of Word Art where students were asked to pick a word from our unit of study and draw the word to describe the meaning. Both activities were engaging, creative and educational. Students will share their work with the families at the SLC.
Students in Ms Sanchez and Ms Kitto classes are now writing their last lab report about an experiment they plan and design with their team. The lab report is due Friday 3/17.
