Unit 9 is one of the three units in Everyday Math that focuses on the important skills of multiplication and division. In this unit, we will focus on a partial-products algorithm for multiplying 1- and 2-digit numbers, as well as develop readiness skills for division. In addition, students will review important concepts such as remainders in division and positive and negative numbers. So, the main areas of focus are:
- to multiply and divide with multiples of 10, 100, and 1,000.
- to use mental math to multiply,
- to share money, and
- to find products of 2-digit numbers.
We ask that you help your child practice his/her multiplication facts at home and thank you for the support in this matter! The sooner the students learn their facts, the quicker and more confident in Math they become. Thank you!
